STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY Founded by Clarence "Pappy" Hoel, The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was founded on on August 14, 1938 by Clarence "Pappy" Hoel, also the founder of the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club. Originally a two day event, the focus of the Sturgis Rally was motorcycle racing and stunts.
